Meditation I, II, & III: 6-Week Sessions (pre-registration required, must enroll in sequential order) Weekly Meditation classes will begin with a brief lecture discussing a variety of topics, ranging from different aspects of meditation, to healthy lifestyle tips including information on diet, effective sleep patterns, etc. The bulk of class will focus on the inner aspects of yoga as students will be lead into deep relaxation through use of breath and mantra and will then learn how to enter meditation by concentrating and calming the mind, eliminating the stream of jumbled thoughts that may be crowding their consciousness causing unnecessary stress. Students will learn valuable pranayama (breathing) techniques and will gain a basic understanding of the chakras, or energy centers within the body. As the various meditation techniques are introduced, students will learn how to avoid accumulating tension from challenging encounters, and the routine stress of daily existence will be faced with a calm mind and a positive outlook. At the end of the advanced course students will achieve an amount of mental calmness, inner tranquility, and true self-awareness that will enable them to face any challenges in life with a sense of confidence therefore living a more creative, joyful and disease free existence.
